Compare to prequalified polystyrene (EPS) or polyurethane (PUR) insulated packages.

The most utilized type of packages for temperature sensitive shipments (EPS & PUR) also happen to be the least effective for thermal regulation. This inefficiency can create patient safety issues and is the reason we set out to design a better solution.

AeroSafe product advantages are outlined below in comparison to the limitations of EPS and PUR based packages.

Issue

Shipping packages with EPS or PUR require large amounts of thermal regulation material (gel packs, dry ice, PCM etc) to compensate for the lack of insulation effectiveness. These types of prequalified packages tend to be large and heavy to accommodate the amount of thermal regulation material needed.

Our Product Advantage

Because we utilize a high performance insulation, less thermal regulation material is needed. As a result, our packaging is smaller and lighter than many other prequalified solutions.

Case Study: Simpler and Lighter - Yet More Effective

Issue

A shipping duration longer than 48 hours with EPS or PUR can be impractical due to the amount of thermal regulation material needed and the complexity of the pack-outs. Shippers may avoid shipments on Friday because they don’t have a practical solution that will maintain temperature over the weekend. In general, any long duration shipment is expensive and bulky.

Our Product Advantage

Longer shipping durations are practical and simple with the compact AeroSafe pack-outs. Due to high performance insulation, our products require less thermal regulating material, leading to manageable pack-outs for longer durations.

Customers are given the freedom to re-think their shipping process and save money on longer durations or ground transportation. Friday shipments become feasible and safe.

Issue

Prequalified EPS and PUR packages often require several pack-out components with different preconditioning requirements. In addition, the components have to be placed in the package just right for it to work effectively. Lastly, the exact type of pack-out has to be determined based on seasonal temperatures at the shipping origin and destination, while also considering expected transit temperatures in between. This leaves a lot of room for mistakes.

Our Product Advantage

With much less thermal regulation material needed and, specifically, with the use of advanced PCM, our packaging has extremely simple pack-out requirements that are also universal - you don’t have to change them based on seasonal conditions. With simple SOPs, you greatly reduce the risk of human error during the pack-out process and, consequently, minimize the risk of temperature excursions.

Case Study: Simple Prep, Simple Pack-Out, Better Performance

Issue

Polystyrene and polyurethane are non-biodegradable and are filling up landfills at a record rate. They are manufactured with non-sustainable, toxic chemicals and are difficult to recycle.

Our Product Advantage

eco friendly

AeroSafe Global manufactures VIPs with non-toxic components and reclaims byproducts for reuse. At the end of its useful life, the insulation will decompose into the equivalent of a handful of dirt. The impact on the environment for both the manufacturing process and the product is minimal.

Reuse is the ultimate eco-friendly goal and is also practical with the high durability of AeroSafe products and our AeroLoop reuse program, helping you meet your personal and professional sustainability goals.

Issue

The lower cost of EPS and PUR packages keeps some companies from switching to better solutions, despite the fact that AeroSafe products reduce the risk of temperature excursions and can significantly reduce shipping costs.

Our Product Advantage

The reusability of our products brings high performance packaging within reach, by lowering your cost per turn each time the same package is reused. In fact, the cost per shipment is often less than buying new prequalified EPS or PUR packages every turn. For little to no additional investment, you get the protection, assurance, and durability of a premium product.

AeroSafe’s reusability also enabled us to develop the AeroLoop program, for those customers that need help implementing a recovery and reuse program. We recover the shipping package, refurbish it, and deliver it back to you for the next shipment.

Compare to other pre-qualified VIP insulated packages

When it comes to vacuum insulated panels (VIPs) and their performance, not all are created equal. The construction of the VIP and the design of the shipping package both contribute greatly to the effectiveness and ease-of-use of the final product.

AeroSafe product advantages are outlined below in comparison to the limitations of alternative VIP packages.

Issue

Other VIP solutions require size specific PCM plates for each shipper, resulting in some inevitable outcomes.

  • If the right sized plate is not prepared, the pack-out and shipment will be delayed.
  • You must use a 96 hour pack-out for a 24 hour shipment, resulting in over protection and significant shipping costs.

Our Product Advantage

All AeroSafe shippers use the same size modular PCM plate, making preparation error-proof and simplifying SOPs for multiple shipments. Also, the plate size is the same for 2-8°C and controlled ambient, enabling you to change the temperature protection by simply using different colored plates.

Finally, because each shipper has multiple configurations, you can use a pack-out that has been optimized for your payload size and shipping duration, eliminating over packing and the shipping costs associated with it.

Issue

Most other VIP products require inconvenient and time consuming preconditioning, including:

  • Freezing PCM plates for refrigerated shipments
  • "Sweating" PCM plates
  • Conditioning plates with special instrumentation
  • Using a combination of PCM plates with different preconditioning requirements in one shipment
  • Pulling the right sized plate for each box

The coordination of PCM plate preparation must be well thought out in order to have the needed plates ready at the right time.

Our Product Advantage

Simple. That’s how we wanted preconditioning to be. As a result, the refrigerated PCM plates are grab-and-go, with no 0℃ freezing or sweating necessary. For CRT shipments (notorious for complicated pack-outs) only one plate type is needed, which preconditions within a room temperature range and doesn’t require special instrumentation.

All of our PCM based packages utilize the same size PCM plate, so customers do not have to match package size to PCM size, greatly reducing the complexity of shipment preparation.

Issue

Properly packing-out a box for shipment is crucial and can include time consuming coordination of multiple sized plates, complex preconditioning requirements, and analysis of likely seasonal temperatures across the shipping lane. Multiple individuals are required to properly make adjustments to the pack-out, often following a long SOP.

Our Product Advantage

AeroSafe pack-outs utilize several simplifying features:

  • One universal pack-out protects against both high and low outside temperatures
  • Same size PCM plates for all package sizes
  • One step, one temperature preconditioning
  • Color coded PCM plates

This translates into the simplest pack-out in the industry, shortened SOPs, and minimal risk of pack-out errors.

Issue

Most VIP panels contain insulation in a dust form. Once punctured, the dust is released and spreads throughout the package, raising serious concerns about product integrity and contamination.

Our Product Advantage

Manufactured as a solid monolith, the VIP insulation in AeroSafe products will not spill into the package if accidentally punctured. In fact, it can be refurbished, re-evacuated, and reused.

Issue

Most VIP based products have a limited shelf life, making it hard to plan for long term inventory needs. The ability to use the products for multiple types of shipments is also limited, as each box is typically designed for a specific size payload, a specific temperature range, and a specific duration.

Our Product Advantage

With AeroSafe, product options are expanded.

  • AeroSafe products have a 5 year shelf life, so even with 6 or 12 month delay starting a clinical trial you can avoid having to discard your packaging inventory.
  • One shipper can be configured for any temperature range and any duration.
  • A rectangular payload space more easily accommodates a wide range of payload sizes.

Issue

The premium price of VIP packages makes reusing them ideal but companies must have the resources in place to retrieve and refurbish them. The packages themselves must be durable enough to withstand the rigors of the shipping process with minimal refurbishment each "turn".

Our Product Advantage

Built with durable materials, AeroSafe packages can be reused time and time again with minimal refurbishment needed after each turn.

AeroSafe’s durability enabled us to develop the AeroLoop program, for those customers that need help implementing a recovery and reuse program. We recover the shipping package, refurbish it, and deliver it back to you for the next shipment. With AeroLoop, reuse becomes reality without having to invest in internal resources.
